BIO
Sean Padraic McCarthy’s short stories have been published in dozens of magazines and literary journals and anthologies including Epoch, Glimmer Train, The Hopkins Review, Louisiana Literature, South Carolina Review, Supernatural Tales, Hayden’s Ferry Review, The Blotter Magazine, The Quarter(ly), Chiron Review, december, Surreal Nightmares, The Sewanee Review, Water~Stone Review, On Fire, New Reader Magazine, Art from Art, Fifth Wednesday Journal, Confrontation, Bayou, Passsages North, and South Dakota Review among others. An eleven time top 25 Finalist for the Glimmer Train Fiction Open Award, his work has been cited in The Best American Short Stories 2015, and he was recently named a finalist for the Gertrude Stein Award in Fiction. He is a 2016 recipient of the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s Artist Fellowship in Fiction Award. IN THE MIDST OF THE SEA, his first novel, was published by Pace Press, and his novel WHERE THE BIRDS GO TO DIE is forthcoming from Oprelle Publications in 2025. A father of six, he lives in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
